You may have never heard of Bite Splints if you are from the UK.

They are hard, rigid, custom 'tuned' bite plates usually made from acrylic that allow us to align the way the jaws come together. We can use Bite Splints to stabilise jaw joints as a therapy for Temporo Mandibular Joint Disorders or to find a suitable stable position for the bite when restoring a mouth or to control and distribute more favourably the forces of nocturnal (or daytime) grinding or clenching, a habit like condition known as 'Bruxism'.

Bite splints used for Bruxism are far more useful than rubber night guards which may actually serve to strengthen grinding muscles by acting like an exercise ball thus making the condition worse.

We thank directors Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantino for this, what Dr Ahlowalia believes to be the only movie referrence to bite splints. ( At least his students find this highly amusing. )

Lee had been suffering with severe headaches, uncontrollable pain and muscle spasms in her face.

We examined her jaws, muscles and mouth and determined that a carefully tailored bite splint might help.

This video interview was taken after three weeks use of our bite splint therapy.

It has been estimated that as many as 70% of headaches of unknown origin may have a bite or jaw relation element.

Dr Ahlowalia is a member of the BSOS and one of only three British dentists regularly invited to teach Bite Splint Therapy at the world famous Pankey Institute in Florida.
