Press Release;
The skills gap in cosmetic dentistry
17.08.2004
Dr Tim Bradstock-Smith
British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
Over the past five years cosmetic
dentists
in the UK have seen an explosion in demand and ever more discerning
patients. Finding education in cosmetic dentistry in the UK seriously lacking,
over 100 UK
dentists
have joined the AACD and travel regularly to the US to get up to date and
close the skills gap.....
The AACD mission: The American Academy
of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is dedicated to advancing the art and science of
cosmetic dentistry and encouraging the highest standards of ethical conduct and
responsible patient care among cosmetic
dentists.....
The AACD fulfills its mission by: offering superior educational
opportunities; promoting and supporting a respected Accreditation credential;
serving as a user-friendly and inviting forum for the creative exchange of
knowledge and ideas; and providing accurate and useful information to the public
and the profession.
The BACD: Whilst
the UK membership of the AACD has been growing steadily for years, travelling to
the US to attend their annual scientific session is a huge commitment beyond the
reach of many UK dentists.
So towards the end of last year the AACD made an approach to its British members
regarding the formation of an affiliated group in the UK.
Sixty of these
dentists
answered the call and met to back the foundation of the British Academy
of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD).
